Brittany Lewis graduated from Temple University with a B.A. in African-American Studies and Broadcast, Telecommunications and Mass Media in 2012. She earned an M.A. in Secondary Teaching through the Teach for America program in 2013. She spent two years teaching at Prestige Academy Middle School in Wilmington, Delaware. Brittany also spent a year working on behalf of the Miss American Organization as Miss Delaware 2014 and Miss Black America in 2017. She entered the Ph.D. program at George Washington University in 2015. Her fields of study are African-American colonial to present, urban, and U.S. 20th century history with an emphasis on social movements, political ideology, and the state. Brittany is an adjunct professor for The Black Woman at Wilmington University and teaching assistant for World History Since 1500 at George Washington University.
