Catherine Magee

Catherine Magee graduated from the College of William and Mary in January 2025 with a B.A. in History. She will begin her M.A. in History at George Washington University in the fall of 2025. From 2022 to 2024, she conducted research with the Global Americas: Trade and Movement in the Making of the Modern World Lab, analyzing maritime data from the newspaper Poulson’s American Daily Advertiser (1800–1803) and documenting over 4,000 shipping entries to study U.S. trade networks and the role of Philadelphia’s Lazaretto quarantine station in early epidemic control. In a separate genealogical project, she traced her family’s lineage back to 1594 and their arrival in Virginia in 1613, using objects found on her family farm—such as indentures, furniture, and letters—to explore the connections between people, place, and material culture across Colonial and early Virginia.
