Julia Welp

Julia Welp is a PhD student studying the cultural and political history of the modern Middle East. She is from Allentown, Pennsylvania and graduated from Penn State University with bachelor’s degrees in history, political science, and Middle East studies. Her undergraduate honors thesis, titled “From Ur to Masada: Antiquities Policy and State Building in Palestine/Israel and Iraq, 1919-1950,” explored how governments used antiquities laws to seek legitimacy with various audiences.
